MUSCATINE, Iowa - Ethyl B. Herlein, 96, of Muscatine, Iowa, died on Saturday, August 16, 2008, at the Muscatine Care Center.

Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 22, 2008, at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. Casket bearers will be David Hoag, Ralph Hoag, Doug Hoag, Richard Leach, Steve Frye and Lauren Jarrett. Burial will be at Harker Cemetery. Following the interment a time of food and fellowship will be held at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Community Room.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 21, 2008, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Genesis Hospice, Davenport.

Ethyl was born on January 15, 1912, in Wellman, Iowa the daughter of John W. and Eva L. Wagamon Miller. She first married Rodney Manley, they later divorced. She married Albert F. Herlein on October 10, 1956, in Elmwood, Illinois.

She was a member of the Sweetland United Methodist Church. She enjoyed playing cards, watching sports and was an avid Cubs and Iowa Hawkeye fan.

She had worked at McKee Button Factory for many years and helped her husband operate a dairy farm in Sweetland.

She will be deeply missed by her two children, Marilyn J. Manley of Muscatine, and Larry W. Manley and his wife, Carolyn, of Chester, Virginia; two grandchildren, Troy and Ty Manley; two great grandchildren, Elliott and Shea Manley; two nieces, Nancy Colgan of Canton, Illinois, and Barbara Fernandez of San Antonio, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband in 1989, a step-daughter, Mary Herlein and a sister, Vivian Hahn.
