Son of Douw Ditmars Williamson and Mary Ann Abeel. He was a minister of the Reformed Dutch Church and was serving at the Reformed Church of Amity in Saratoga County, NY from 1849 until the time of his death.
Rev. Williamson, his wife and two sons were onboard the steamboat Reindeer, which was on passage from New York to Albany, when the boiler exploded while pulling into port at Malden, NY on Sept. 4th, 1852. His son died that day, the Reverend died from his injuries the following day and his wife fell several days later. The Reverend's infant son, Edwin Bleeker, survived.
