Georgia Burgfeld, 80, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009, at her home.

She was born Oct. 23, 1929, in Dexter, Mo., daughter of Albert Joseph and Mary Felix Buelow. She and L.R. Burgfeld were married March 19, 1950, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau.

Georgia was a 1947 graduate of Central High School. She worked for Southwestern Bell and AT&T 44 years as an operator and frame attendant.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Telephone Pioneers, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, American Legion, Trinity Junior Ladies Aid, Red Hat Society and Eagles Aerie 3775.

Survivors include her husband, L.R. Burgfeld of Cape Girardeau; a son, Robin L. (Myra) Burgfeld of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Karen A. (David) Yoder of Greers Ferry, Ark., Karla S. (Marco Rodriguez) Rodriguez Burgfeld of Merced, Calif.; two brothers, Marlin S. Buelow of Cape Girardeau, Charles F. Buelow of Clinton, Iowa; two sisters, Margaret A. Buelow of Cape Girardeau, Barbara A. Rothweiler of Affton, Mo.; six grandchildren, Blake and Chance Yoder, Jake and Zack Burgfeld, Kyndall Marie Georgia Rodriguez Burgfeld and Christian Rodriguez; and a great-grandson, Reid Burgfeld.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Don V. Buelow.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home. A VFW Ladies Auxiliary service will be held at 7.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Nathan Burgell officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be given to Trinity Lutheran School Building Fund or the memorial of your choice.
