Mr. Bobby Ray Carpenter, Sr., age 73 of Dodson, Louisiana, passed away on Sunday, November 1, 2009, at the Jackson Parish Hospital in Jonesboro, Louisiana.
Born Thursday, April 9, 1936 in Dodson, Louisiana, he was the son of the late Edgar Carpenter and the late Ozelia McDermott Carpenter. He was also predeceased by four brothers.
Mr. Carpenter was a member of Bethany Baptist Church and was a U.S. Navy Veteran of Korea and Vietnam.
Surviving are wife, Pat Bamburg Carpenter, son, Bobby Carpenter, Jr. of Winnfield, LA, daughter, Debra Baker of Alexandria, LA, step sons, Tony Coleman and Wayne Ott of Dodson, LA, brothers, Stanley"Sonny" Carpenter of Minden, LA, Otis Carpenter of Newelton, LA and Jerry "Tink" Carpenter, sister, Elizabeth "Sister" Barnhill; 10 grand children; 3 great grand children, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 5, 2009 at Southern Funeral Home in Winnfield with Bro. David Fowler officiating. Interment will be in Cypress Creek Cemetery near Dodson, LA, under the direction of Southern Funeral Home.
Nicholas Carpenter, Spencer Carpenter, Tony Coleman, Wayne Ott, Eric Coleman, Michael Carpenter, and Ernie Denis will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Wednesday, November 4, 2009 and on Thursday, November 5, 2009 from 8:00 AM to service time at Southern Funeral Home in Winnfield, Louisiana.
