She was born Mary Catherine Wibbels daughter of John Wibbels and Rosa Wempe, baptized at St. Celestines' Church. She married Frank C Thieman in St Anthonys' Church on 10-10-1905. Frank Thieman erected a building on Main Street in St Anthony's in 1900 and operated a saloon. He was elected Sheriff of Dubois County in 1922 and sold the business to Mr and Mrs William Schwinghamer in 1923. Arnies Bar in located in the lot where the saloon once stood. Frank and Mary Thieman owned a small farm in St Marks which the Berg family owns today and the little white house still stands with a bright red metal roof. Frank and Mary had 7 children: Otto Thieman,Walter Thieman, Edward Thieman,Urban Thieman,Leona Mary Thieman Tewell,Ardella Thieman Froehlich Campbell and Robert H Thieman. Mary Catherine Thieman found 2 year old Marie Bieker Muller in the bushes after a terrible train verses car wreck on the tracks by the farm in 1930. Six people died that day.
