Funeral services for Mr. Ed Thompson were at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 26, 2009 in Occupy #1 Baptist Church, Pitkin, Louisiana, Reverends B. G. Dyess and Sherman Busby officiated. Interment followed in Occupy #1 Cemetery, Pitkin under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Oakdale.
Mr. Thompson, 93, of Oakdale, entered eternal rest on Friday, October 23, 2009 in his residence.
Ed was a lifetime member of Occupy #1 Baptist Church where he served as deacon. He was an avid farmer and horseman.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Vivian T. Brown; three sisters, seven brothers.
Those left to mourn his loss and cherish his memory include his loving wife of seventy-three years, Charlotte Mancil Thompson of Plainview Community; three sons, Edward W. Thompson of Plainview, Anthony Thompson of Plainview, Louisiana and Kenneth Pace and wife, Daphne of Pineville; six daughters, Lois Burt and husband, Bill of Baton Rouge, Virginia Spicer and husband, Charles J. of Carrabella, Florida, Cherry Gwin and husband, Bob of Pineville, Judy Olson and husband, Herb of North Branch, Minnesota, Jimmie Elaine Dugan and husband, Michael K. of Pittsburg, Texas, Amanda Walters and husband, Jason of Forest Hill; twenty-six grandchildren; fifty great grandchildren and numerous great-great grandchildren.
Honored to serve as pallbearers David Pace, Trampas Deters, Shannon Olson, Charles Spicer, Jr., Christopher Welch, James Welch. Honorary pallbearers Kenneth Pace, Julian Thompson, Brandon Thompson, Chad Spicer, Jason Willis, Shannon Willis, Elliott Olson, Eric Scott and Craig Burt.
