CEDAR CITY, UT -- Chauncey Owen Stewart, age 76, passed away June 14, 2000 at his home in Cedar City.

He was born August 27, 1923 in Mt. Pleasant, Utah to Lorin Chauncey and Florence Jensen Stewart.

He married Velma D. Mower on August 27, 1946 in Fairview, Utah.

Their marriage was solemnized in the Los Angeles LDS Temple in March 1963.

Owen was a 1942 graduate of North Sanpete High School.

He attended Snow College and graduated in 1948.

Owen then graduated from Utah State Agricultural College in Logan with a Bachelor of Science in Radio and Electronics. Owen was a member of the LDS Church.

He was a very kind and considerate person who loved everyone and would always put the needs of others above his own.

Owen worked for Hughes Aircraft Company as an electrical Engineer in Aerospace.

Owen served his country in the Airforce during World War II.

He is survived by his wife; children: Sharon (Steven) Clark of Cedar City; Karen (Raymond) Rugg of Kearns; JoAnn (Robert) Adams of Lake Forrest, CA; Elaine (Donald) North of Cedar City; Janice Lawrence (Ted) Steffensen of Cedar City; 22 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; brothers: Melvin (Marrita) Stewart of Fairview; R.L. (Carleen) Taylor of Mt. Pleasant; Larry (Judy) Taylor of Cedar City; sister Maridean (Smith) Johansen of Mt. Pleasant.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Alene Stewart Dimick.

Graveside services will be held Sat. June 17, 2000 at 12 noon in the Mt. Pleasant Cem-etery.

A viewing will be held at 11 a.m. in the Mt. Pleasant 3rd Ward LDS Chapel and on Fri, June 16 from 6-8 p.m. at Southern Utah Mortuary in Cedar City (190 N. 300 W.).
