Franz Dreger was born in Schwerin, Mecklenburg, Germany, April 27, 1839. He entered the state of holy matrimony with Miss Elizabeth Fehland in 1865, the same year the young couple left for America, immediately coming to Middleton. Their married life was blessed with ten children: Henry, Wilhelmine, Caroline, John, Willliam, Bertha, Louise, Charles, Ida and Gusta. Wilhelmine and Ida died during infancy.

Mr. Dreger was the oldest member of the First Lutheran Church, being one who helped erect that place of worship. For the last four years, Mr. Dreger had been ailing, being almost totally confined to his home since last April.

He died Sunday, Oct. 17 at 9:00 a.m. Mr. Dreger attained the age of 81 years, 5 months and 20 days. He leaves to mourn his aged wife, eight children, twenty-one grandchildren, one great grandchild and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at the Junction church, Rev. C. F. Stubenvoll officiating, assisted by Rev. E. F. Scherbel. The body was laid to rest in the Middleton Junction cemetery.

Old Settler of Middleton Dies Frank Dreger, age 81, one of the oldest settlers in the town of Middleton, died Sunday morning at his home in Middleton Junction.

Mr. Dreger was born in Germany April 27, 1839. He was mrried in 1865 to Miss Elizabeth Fehland, who survives him. They came to America the same year and farmed near Middleton until 15 years ago when they retired, purchasing a home in Middleton Junction. They were the parents of ten children, the following eight of whom survive: Henry and John, town of Verona; Mrs. Caroline Miller and William Dreger, village of Verona; Mrs. Bertha Overill and Charles C. Dreger, Madison; Mrs. Schluter, Blooming Grove; and Augusta, at home. Mr. Dreger had been in poor health for four years.

Funeral services will take place Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Middleton Junction Church, burial following in the village cemetery.
