Wolfe County News - May 5, 1978

Claude Cockerham, 81, died Saturday, April 22, at the Homestead Nursing Home, Lexington after an extended illness. He was a native of Wolfe County and attended the Church of Christ.

Survivors are his wife, Mary Profitt Cockerham; four sons, Emerson Cockerham of Morgan County, William Cockerham of Middletown, Ohio, Olith Cockerham and Kenneth Cockerham both of Hazel Green; five daughters, Mrs. Lester Dunn, Mrs. Corbett Fallen and Mrs. Betty Callahan all of Campton, Mrs. Ann Bone and Mrs. James Denney both of Middletown, Ohio; nineteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Bessie Kidd of Morgan County.

Funeral services were conducted Monday, April 24, at the Landsaw Church of Christ with Rev. Willie Taylor and Rev. Doyle Thomas officiating. Burial was in the Cockerham Cemetery on Landsaw with Shackelford Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
