Elder Dent Rountree Temples was the 4th child of Hudson and Mary Rountree Temples. In his lifetime he was a farmer, schoolteacher, mail carrier, and a Primitive Baptist Preacher. He married Gertrude Durden on December 25, 1906. They were the parents of 13 children, 8 boys and 5 girls. He was preceded in death by a son, Ewell Temples, and his wife of 57 years, Gertrude Durden Temples. He was a member of Old Canoochee Primitive Baptist Church. He also served Hebron PB, Oak Chapel PB, Bethel PB, Zions Rest PB, and Vidalia Old Line Primitive Baptist Church. Elder Temples was laid to rest beside his beloved companion on January 16, 1965, in Canoochee Cemetery. His funeral was conducted by his pastor, R.M. Riner in his home church, Canoochee, where he was a member for 49 years and 4 months.
