Elery Michael Stephens was born on March 18, 1882, in Boalsburg, Pennsylvania. His father Christopher Stephens was 20 and his mother Annie Rheppard Stephens was 21. He was the eldest of 10 children having 4 younger sisters and 5 brothers.(Most of which are listed below) Elery Michael Stevens first married Genevieve in October 1911, Marriage License No 5197. The license shows both living in Nicktown, Pa. The father and mother of Elery is showing as Christ and Annie Stevens. Genevieve and Elery had a son George born in 1912. The marriage apparently didn't last. He then married Tillie Mae Rutter in 1912 in Valley, Armstrong Co, Pennsylvania. They had four known children during their marriage between the years 1913 and 1919 which are listed below. His 0ccupation was that of a Coal Miner. Michael was listed on the 1930 Census as a boarder seperated from his wife Tilly. Things were not going well for him that decade as He apparently served a prison term between 1931 and May of 1933 for Assault. He passed away on October 28, 1945 in Lewisburg, Union Co, Pennsylvania at the age of 63. He was laid to rest in this cemetery in Armstrong Co near family.
