BELGRADE - Zelma A. Bickford, 91, died unexpectedly Friday, Jan. 16, 2009, at the Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, with her family by her side. She was born in Eustis on Feb. 27, 1917, the daughter of Ziba and Merlie (Kennedy) Davis. Her family moved to Madison in 1918 and she attended schools there, graduating from Madison High School in 1935 with honors.
Her first husband, George Greshamer, and her second husband, James Bickford, predeceased her.
Surviving are a sister, Zella Longley of Oakland; a niece, Phyllis Keene of Skowhegan; two nephews, Francis Longley or Waterville and Herman Longley and family of Skowhegan; a great-niece, Earlene Thompson and her husband, Dale, of Skowhegan; a great-nephew, Glen Heald; great-great-nephew Sean Cates of Skowhegan; and three great-great-nieces, Teshia Cates, Natasha Thompson and Monique Thompson.
There will be no public visiting hours. A graveside funeral service will take place in the spring at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Belgrade. (Morning Sentinel 1/17/2009)
