She was a devoted mother and was possessed with but one great purpose--to live for her children. Mrs. Hood came to Athens about two years ago from Jefferson, and since she had made her home here, no one has made more friends or warmer friends than she. She was a beautiful example of the devoted and self-sacrificing mother. No obstacle has been too great for her. She has been connected with the Methodist church nearly all her life, and next to her children, she had given her time and heart to church work. She was one fo the most appreciated teachers in the Methodist Sunday school.
She is survived by her mother, Mrs. Alice Venable, and by her two children, Robin and Hazel. Also by her two sisters, who live in South Carolina, and who were present at the time of her death. The interment took place in Woodbine cemtery at Jefferson, the funeral service being conducted by Rev. M. L. Troutman.
She was a member of a prominent family at Jefferson and has many relatives and friends there. Here was a brave and heroic soul. Her life was full of heroism adn struggles and self-sacrifice, but she bore all with a Christian fortitude that was beautiful to witness.--Athens Tribune.
