Rudolf Thomas Strobl, the son of Frank and Barbara (Remes) Strobl, was born December 17, 1902 at Red Cloud, Nebraska. He departed this life on Wednesday, June 5, 1991 at the Heritage Care Center in Red Cloud, Nebraska at the age of 88 years, 5 months and 18 days.
Rudolf was a lifelong resident of the Red Cloud area. He received his formal education attending District No. 26 rural school in the Batin township in Webster County. On April 12, 1928 he was united in marriage to Annie Strobl (Annie Maruska) at Red Cloud. This union was blessed with a son, Donald. They made their home farming north of Red Cloud until his retirement in 1977, when they moved into Red Cloud to live. Due to his failing health, in 1988, Rudolf moved into the Heritage Care Center.
He was preceded in death by his parents; six sisters, Anne Strobl, Lizzie Sidlo, Emma Prochaska, Bessie Prochaska, Tillie Jelinek and Lydia Lannigan and three brothers, Alex, Fred and George Strobl.
Left to treasure his memory are his wife, Annie Strobl of Red Cloud; his son, Donald Strobl and wife, Sharon of Nelson, Nebraska; three grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a brother, Vencil Strobl and wife, Dorothy of Red Cloud; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Memorial services were held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 8, 1991 from the Simonson-Williams Funeral Home Chapel in Red Cloud with Dewayne Hanes officiating. Sandra Hanes sang "Life Without End--At Last!" accompanied by Betty Rasser, organist. Interment was in the Red Cloud Cemetery with the Simonson-Williams Funeral Home of Red Cloud in charge of the arrangements.
