Final Rites for Fred D. Strobl
Fred D. Strobl, son of Frank and Barbara Strobl was born on a farm north of Red Cloud on August 2, 1906. He departed this life on July 4, 1977 at the age of 70 years, 11 months and 2 days. Fred has been in poor health the past two years and for the past 1 1/2 years he has been a patient at the Veterans Hospital and Veterans Home at Grand Island, Nebraska. He never married but lived with his parents on the farm until their death and then lived with his brother, Alex, on the farm until they moved into Red Cloud about 2 years ago. He served in the Armed Forces during World War II.
Fred was preceded in death by his father and mother and 3 sisters; Lizzie Sidlo and Annie Strobl of Red Cloud and Lydia Lannigan of Salem, Oregon. He is survived by 3 sisters and 4 brothers, Emma Prochaska and Bessie Prochaska of Louisville, Colorado; Tillie Jelinek of Red Cloud, Rudolf, Alex and Vencil of Red Cloud and George of Hastings.
Services were held at the Simonson Funeral Home at 11:00 Thursday morning, July 7 with Pastor John Bender officiating.
Music was furnished by Sue McNeil, soloist accompanied by Sylvia Beams organist.
Pallbearers were Eddie Vavricka, Floyd Sidlo, Lloyd Kudrna, Kenneth Kudrna, Harold Polnicky and Boyd Vance.
Burial was in the Red Cloud Cemetery.
