Mrs. C.H. (Bud) Townsend, 75, of Chicota, died Saturday at 3 p.m. at St. Joseph's Hospital, where she had been a patient since suffering a stroke recently. Her husband, longtime Chicota merchant and justice of the peace, has been in the same hospital several months, also after a stroke.
Survivors are these children: Judge Cedric Townsend, Mrs. Howard Annett and Mrs. Henry Pice, all of Paris, and Mrs. J.W. Caldwell, Sumner; 16 other descendants, and a half-brother, C.W. Seay, Lubbock.
The former Miss Ora White, daughter of Robert and Leona 'Hall' White, Mrs. Townsend was born at Chicota, 28 Oct 1886, and was married to Mr. Townsend, 56 years ago last August. She was active in all community and social affairs of Chicota.
The funeral, Monday at 11 a.m., will be held at Chicota Baptist Church, of which she was a longtime member. Fry and Gibbs to make burial in Forest Chapel Cemetery. Officiating will be the Rev. J.L. Wideman, the Rev. Max Barton, and the Rev. Kenneth Knebel.
