Joseph Abshear

ABSHEAR, Joseph H. Age 78 of Vandalia, passed away suddenly Saturday, December 3, 2005 at Grandview Hospital. He was born November 13, 1927 in Winchester, KY., son of the late Frank & Lillie Abshear. Joe was a retired employee of Harrison Radiator Div. of GM with 37 years of service and was owner & operator of Edgewood Electric Co. for 35 years. He was a WW II Air Force veteran. He was a member of the Eastview Baptist Church and was an Ordained Minister and served for 17 years with the Baptist Disaster Relief. He was preceded in death by 1 daughter, Sharon Kaye Abshear in 1989 and 3 brothers, Moab, Ray & Clarence. Joe is survived by his wife of 57 years Elizabeth Abshear; 1 son Larry; 1 daughter Kathy Leach, all of Vandalia; 6 grandchildren, April & husband James Monroe, Shannon, Christopher & Michael Abshear, Samantha & husband Jarod Fraley, Jason & wife Jammie Price; 5 sisters, Lula Mae Puckett, Betty Rudd, Clara Brumback, Phyllis Spivey, Frances Tice; 2 brothers, John & Tony Abshear and numerous other relatives & friends. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Wednesday, December 7 at the First Baptist Church, 140 Elva Ct., Vandalia with Rev. Tom Speck officiating. Burial at Forest Hills Cemetery. Visitation from 12 noon until time of services at the church on Wednesday. If so desired contributions may be made to the Baptist Disaster Relief Fund in Joe's memory. Arrangements by Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, Vandalia.
