News of the serious illness of Ollie
Adams at St. Louis reached Iola
Monday and his brother Sam left on
the first train to be with him. He was
at a hospital in the city suffering
from typhoid fever. Sam telegraphed
home Wednesday that he was much
improved and that hopes of his re-
covery were bright, but this morning
another telegram came announcing
the sad news that he died at 2 o'clock
this morning. The remains will be
brought home tomorrow morning and
the funeral held from the Presbyterian
church at 2 o'clock in the afternoon.
Ollie Adams is well remembered by
hundreds of Allen county poeople. He
is the oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. W.
C. Adams who lived southwest of Iola
about three miles. He grew up here
and graduated from the Iola high
school. After teaching a few years
he engaged in the hotel business and
drifted to St. Louis where for years
he has held responsible positions as
clerk in some of the leading hotels.
At the time he was taken ill he was
running the Wellington hotel which
he had leased and was prospering.
His poarents, a brother, Sam, and
three sisters, Mrs. Dan Brewer, Miss
Adda and Elsie, teachers in the Iola
schools survive him....
