Last Will & Testament of Elias Copenbarger
First it is my will that my funeral expenses and my just debts be paid. I give and advise to my wife Mahala, in line of her dower right, the plantation on which we now reside, situated in the county and state aforesaid, containing 2000 acres. during her natural life of widowhood, excepting 120 acres which is herein named, after specifying all the livestock by now owned, and left thereon, and also all household furniture to my wife. She however first disposing a sufficiency to pay such debts that I owe, that which remains at her death unexpended to James Copenbarger and his heirs forever. Third I give to my daughters Harriet Fletcher and Margaret Jane Lane Copenbarger, South East 1/2 of the Northwest 1/4 of Sec. 18, in Township 16 N of Range 1 of third principal meridian, containing 40 acres and East 1/2 of the northeast 1/4 Sec 32 Township and Range, before mentioned, containing 80 acres, and to their heirs and assigns forever. Fourth to my daughter Margaret Jane Lane Copenbarger, 1 horse, saddle and bridle, 3 sheep, 1 cow, bed and bedding and lasstly constitue John B.Fletcher as executor.

The estate was appraised at $142.81 by John Hunter and John G. Fletcher given to William Elliott. Bond for Mahala was signed by James H. Masterson. Receipt for the care of Elias found written by Dr. Holbert. !In the history of Christian Co., IL, published in 1880 by Brink & McDonough, it states that Elias Coppenbarger and Jacob Widick settled in Christian County and entered land (1830 - Mosquito Twp.). it is recorded that Jacob Widick settled first in South Fork Twp., Christian Co., in 1830.
