Mrs. Maggie May Shope, 80, of Liverpool RR1, died at 11:30 p.m., Tuesday, February 27, 1996 at her residence. She was in poor health for the past few years.

Born at Liverpool, Perry County, March 2, 1915, she was the daughter of the late John and Lillian Casey Goodling. Her husband, George Mahlon Shope, preceded her in death September 20, 1994.

For over 25 years, Mrs. Shope was employed as a seamstress for many shirt and dress factories in the Richfield, Millerstown, Liverpool and Mt. Pleasant Mills areas. She retired in the late 1970s at the age of 62.

She was Protestant by faith and had a membership in the Liverpool Ambulance League. She enjoyed and was accomplished at crafting and crocheting.

Surviving are two sons, Marlin G. Shope, Liverpool RR1, with whom she made her home, and Maynard L. Shope, Liverpool RR1; five daughters, Catherine M. Cluck, Richfield RR1, Marie A. Shelley, Richfield RR1, Irene E. Troutman, Mt. Pleasant Mills RR2, and Bertha P. Lamey, Mill Hall RR1. Also surviving are four brothers, Woodrow Goodling, Millerstown RR2, Charles Goodling, Liverpool RR2, Kenneth Goodling, Mt. Pleasant Mills RR1, and Lyle Goodling, North Carolina; two sisters, Florence Kerstetter, Mt. Pleasant Mills RR2, and Mary Hile, Liverpool RR1; 36 grandchildren; 57 great- grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

Mrs, Shope was preceded in death by one son, Mahlon; one daughter, Mildred F. Strawser; two grandchildren; and seven brothers, Harry, George, Wesley, Norman, Henry, Earl and Ray Goodling.

The funeral service was conducted Saturday from the George P. Garman Funeral Home, Liverpool, with Rev. James A. Neimond officiating. Burial was made in Barner's [St. John] Cemetery, Liverpool RR 1.
