FLORENCE B. DEAN
Florence Blanche Fenley Dean was born July 23, 1919 in Vermillion, S. D. to Stephen H. and Gertrude Bettis Fenley. Florence passed away Saturday, March 1, 2003 of injuries received in an automobile accident.
She was the seventh child and was raised on a farm south of Russell. Florence graduated from Russell High School. On August 12, 1940 she was united in marriage to John Ralph Dean. They were blessed with two children: Karen Jo and David Dean.
Florence was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; her daughter Karen Jones; grandson Chris Jones; great-grandchildren Ryan and Austin; brothers and sisters; James Fenley, Delbert "Doc" Fenley, Leo Fenley, Guy Fenley, Gladys Dandurand, and Stephen Fenley.
She is survived by her son David G. Dean, and her grandchildren: Lori Evans, Mark Jones, Melinda Alitz, and Rebecca Fletcher, and 9 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were held Friday, March 7, 2003 at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Chariton with the Rev. James Cord of the Wakonda Christian Church conducting the services. Burial was in the Russell Cemetery.
