Welcome U. Almand joined Free and Accepted Masons, Philologia Lodge, NO 178 in 1866 in Conyers, Georgia.
In a letter date April 21, 1980 from the Masons Grand Lodge of Georgia - they stated they were notified that
W. U. Almand died January 10, 1878.
I do have family information regarding his death. Welcome Ussery Almand hung himself in his barn after an argument with his wife - Susan Husketh Almand.
Contact me if you are interested. [email protected]
Welcome Ussery Almand is buried in an unmarked grave. When he was first buried there was a Cedar tree that marked his grave. After the tree was cut down a rock was placed to mark his grave. When the cemetery was cleaned the rock was moved and his grave was lost forever. (This information was from my maternal grandfather, Welcome Usher Chafin. His mother was Mary Ann Elizabeth Almand Chafin - she was daughter to Welcome Ussery Almand.)
Married:
(1)Nancy Gray July 17, 1828 Newton County Georgia
(2)Susan Harris Husketh July 12,1849 Walton County Georgia
