Rolla Mayes was born at Luther, Hancock Co. Tn. and died Oct. 1 at his home 311 West Poplar,Olathe,Ks.,age 85 years,7 months and 1 day.He had lived most of his life west of Spring Hill,retiring from the farm in 1944 and moving into Olathe.Mrs. Mayes preceded him in death Feb. 4,1951.
Mr. Mayes leaves four daughters,Mrs Rose E. St. John,Fairview,Oklahoma;mrs. Ruby J. Hayden,Gardner;Mrs.Bessie DeNoon and Mrs. Eva M. Fisher,both of Olathe,and six sons:Grover,Bert,Raymond and Ernest,all of Olathe;Peter ,Netwaka,Ks.and Dewey, Kansas City .18 grandchildren ,8 grand children and one great grandchild.
Pallbears were Fred Mayes,Everett Mayes,Arnold Fisher,Frank McIntire,Bill Levi and Edward Kingsley.
Funeral services were held at 2 o'colock Friday afternoon ,Oct. 3,at the Frye Chapel in Olathe,conducted by the Rev. Floyd Boyd,pastor of the First Baptist Church.Interment in the family lot in Olathe Cemetery.W.L. Frye Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
