Death Comes to
Mrs. Luvina Sims
Mrs. Luvina Caroline Sims, aged 86 years, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Si Thompson at Joy, Monday night at 8:30 o'clock.
Funeral services were held at Joy Wednesday at 1 p.m., followed by burial in Green Hill cemetery, Davis, beside her husband, J. W. Sims, who passed away many years ago. Rev. M. F. Bell, Methodist pastor at Davis, conducted the service.
Mrs. Sims was born in South Carolina, Aug. 26, 1856. She was married to J. W. Sims on Dec. 31, 1876. To this union 13 children were born, eight of whom survive. Five preceded her in death, three dying in infancy and two, Mrs. Ida Sewell and L. H. Sims passed away after maturity.
The surviving children are: J. W. Sims, Mrs. Alice Stults, Mrs. Anna Bell Stults, Mrs. Dora Thomas, Mrs. Ada Clure, M. H. Sims, Clay Sims and Mrs. Nona Thompson.
There were 38 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Mrs. Sims had been a member of the Baptist church since early in life.
