James Pilcher went out to OR first from Vernon Co. Missouri, his father being Squire Pilcher of Nevada, Vernon Co. In photo James is seated, Mollie standing next to him in long plaid skirt.
It is believed Benjamin Dodson & Squire Pilcher were cousins. Mary followed, and they married in Union Co. OR Dec 23, 1876. Mary was the oldest of 8 kids, her father James Jobe of Moniteau Co MO died Dec 24, 1864 in the Civil War. Her mother Sarah Gregory Jobe remarried to Benjamin Dodson 1868 Cole Co. MO. 1870 they were all living in Virgil twp Vernon C. MO. 1887 Mary's 1/2 brother Jesse L. Dodson came to Union Co. OR and homesteaded age 19, he married Laura Powers. Was a county judge. Her sister Ellen also moved to OR 1913 she married a ranch hand of the Pilchers, Charlie May.
