Ellen was born 3 mo. after her father James Jobe died in the Civil War. Her mother remarried to Benjamin Dodson 1868 in Cole Co. MO. They soon moved to Vernon Co. MO. Ellen & sister Sarah P. received money from the US Gov. due to the fathers death, until age 18. 1883 Lethe Ellen m. Charles Worthy Vernon Co. MO Before 1904 they moved to Alton, Madison, IL. Charles home place. Charles disappeared April 1904, two weeks later his body was found on an Island in the Mississippi River. He would cross the river in his boat, it is believed he was murdered. Ellen went out to Union Co OR 1913, her sister Mary Pilcher & half bro. Jesse L. Dodson lived there. She m. #2 Charles Madison May of North Powder OR, by 1920 were back in Alton IL. They lived on a houseboat, Ellen got sick with Typhoid Fever, the health dept. would not let her leave the boat for medical treatment and she died.
