Mrs. H.S. Parnell, Former Estelline Resident, Dies

Funeral services for Mrs. H.S. Parnell, 91, of Lubbock, a long-time resident of Hall County and Estelline, were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 11, in the Estelline Church of Christ.

Lynn Wolf, minister, officiated. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery at Memphis under the direction of Spicer Funeral Home.

Born July 27, 1877, in Illinois, Arkie Delphia Sanders was united in marriage to Henry S. Parnell June 3, 1895, at Rockwall. Mrs. Parnell came to Estelline in 1906, moving to Lubbock five years ago. She was a member of the Church of Christ and the Rebekah Lodge.

Mr. Parnell and one daughter, Birdie Smith, preceded her in death. Mrs. Parnell died Monday afternoon in a Lubbock hospital.

Survivors include: sons, James, of Lubbock, John and Joe, both of Vista, Calif., Jack of Paducah and Gordon of Borger; daughters, Mrs. Ruthie Stewart of Gilmer, Mrs. Ruby Hansen of Thousand Oaks, Calif., Mrs. Sudie Morrow and Mrs. Jewel Hanson, both of Van Nuys, Calif., and Mrs. Clara Carley of Dallas; 27 grandchildren; 63 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Pall bearers were C.F. Parnell, Doyle Parnell, John Stewart, D.B. Parker, Bruce Marrs and Clyde Dane.
