GAILEN J. SMITH DIED SATURDAY

Gailen J. Smith, a well-known Madison county farmer, and life-time resident of the county, died Saturday, Feb. 25, at Madison Manor here. He was 72 years of age.

Mr. Smith was born in Monroe township Dec. 25, 1897, a son of Chester and Daisey Shackleford Smith. He was married at Winterset Aug. 26, 1923, to Myrlee I. White, who survives him.

In addition to his wife, he leaves a daughter, Mrs. Ronald Stuart of Winterset, and a son Wayne G. Smith of Des Moines. He also leaves three grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Arvetta Capesius of Des Moines.

Funeral services were held this Tuesday from the Clark-Wilson Funeral home in Winterset, conducted by the Rev. Eldon Jandebeur, pastor of the First Christian church at Winterset. Burial was made in the Clark cemetery.
