Mr. Montgomery was a foreman for the St. Francis Levee District, where he had worked for more that 28 years. He was born at Shade Switch in 1921 to the late John and Velma Montgomery and married Rachel Clayton in 1943.
She survives, along with a son, Tommy of Caruthersville; two brothers, John and Charlie of Caruthersville; four sisters, Mrs. Clatee Barnes and Mrs. Mary Jarboe of Caruthersville, Mrs. Lester Sherwood of Louisiana state, and Mrs. Fern Sherwood of Wardell; and three grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers were Mike Thomas, Victor Sample, Billy Jack Davis, Billy Dale Davis, Mike Hepler, Jeff Ferrell and George Glozer. Active pallbearers were Frank Shaw, Earl Bullington, Ben Baker, Doyle Woods, Horace Shell, and Doyle Sutherland. Interment was in the Little Prairie Cemetery with the John W. German Funeral Home in charge.
