---E. N. Hatfield, son of Ail and Rebecca Hatfield, was born April 5th, 1847, in Putnam county, Mo., and passed away at the home of his son, Hugh Hatfield, March 27, 1928, being at the time of his death, 80 years, 11 months and 22 days old. Although he has been in ill health for some time, his condition did not grow worse until about two weeks ago.
---He was married to Emily M. Boyd, December 2, 1866. to this union was born ten children, all living, eight boys and 2 girls, namely: Sam, Hiram, Jasper, Albert, Hugh, Pearl, Ben and John, Effie Crooks and Mary Terrell. His wife preceded him in death ten years ago. He also leaves 26 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, three sisters and one brother: Hiram Hatfield of Worthington, Mo.; Mrs. Frances Warnick of Numa, Iowa; Mrs. L. C. Lane of Unionville, Mo.; Mrs. Tabitha Edwards of Moulton, Iowa. In 1919 he was married to Mrs. Emma West, who survives him. He has been a resident of Putnam county all his life. He embraced the Christian faith in his early youth, uniting with the United Bretheren church. He also leaves a host of relatives and friends to mourn his death.
---The funeral services were conducted by Rev. A. M. Wiles at the Lowground church Wednesday, March 28, 1928, after which the body was laid to rest in the Hatfield cemetery.
