She moved to Morgan Co, MO, with her family not long after her 21st birthday. They purchased an 83 acre farm, two miles east of Glensted.
Her brother, William, lived in Greenville, Hunt Co, TX, as well as some of her cousins on her mother's side of the family. In November 1916 she and her sister, Bettie, went to TX to spend the winter with William. No doubt, this is where she met her future husband, Daniel Comer Holder. On May 18, 1918, Eliza and Daniel were married in Greenville.
They had two children: Lillian Demetris born on November 27, 1920, and Paul Daniel born on August 25, 1925. Very little is known about Eliza and her family.
She died while fairly young. A search for her death certificate, to find the cause of death, has been unsuccessful. A short notice of her death was published in the Greenville (TX) Messenger, on Thursday December 23, 1926:
"MRS. D.C. HOLDER DIED AT MERIT - Mrs. D.C. Holder, aged 41 years died at the family home in Merit last Thursday. Deceased was a member of the Baptist church and a useful worker in church and community social affairs. She is survived by her husband and two children, aged 6 and one and a half years, respectively. She is also survived by parents, brothers and sisters."
Demeris's cousin, Callie (Stair) & her husband, Walter Milton, were taking care of his children on April 10, 1930 (when the Federal Census was taken).
Eliza's husband, Daniel, moved to Winnsboro, Wood Co, TX, where he continued farming. He had lived there two years, when he suffered from an acute intestinal obstruction. This condition led to his death seven days later, September 16, 1944. His body was transported back to Hunt Co, where he was buried in Shady Grove Cemetery.
