John, the third son of Leonard & Ellen (Counts) Self, died from tuberculosis, and was buried in the Charles C. Dickenson Cemetery.

Harry Dickenson owns the farm where the cemetery is located. The house on Harry's farm was built by John's father, Leonard, and another man in 1904 for Noah Calhoun Dickenson & his wife, Cornelia "Corrie" (Jessee). This might have been around the time that John died and was buried.

Noah's parents, Charles & Catherine (Counts) Dickenson, were Ellen Self's aunt & uncle. Their son, Noah, was her cousin. Her father, John Counts, was Catherine's brother.

Also, Charles & Catherine's son, James Monroe, was married to Leonard's sister, Ailsey, therefore was his brother-in-law.
