Fort Worth - Charlie M. Blackshear, 79, of Fort Worth, formerly of Sherman, died Dec. 27, 1996, in Irving Health Care Systems.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 30, 1996, in Waldo Funeral Home Chapel.
The Rev. Bart Smith and the Rev. Max Brenna will officiate. Burial will be in Cedarlawn Memorial Park.
Mr. Blackshear was born Oct. 29, 1917, in Mt. Pleasant, the son of Charlie Mitchell and Martha Orlando Blackshear. He attended school in Wellington, Texas. He married Audie White on Feb. 26, 1949, in Sherman.
Mr. Blackshear was retired from Burlington Industries, where he was employed in the Maintenance Shop. He was a World War II Navy veteran, having served in Guam. He had also served in the Civilian Conservation Corps. He was a member of Key Memorial Methodist Church in Sherman.
Surviving are his wife, Audie Blackshear of Fort Worth; sons, Robert Blackshear and wife, Patricia of Arlington; Benton Blackshear; William Blackshear and wife Isla, of Corinth; Glenn Carl Blackshear and wife Dorothy of Columbia, S.C.; daughter, Glenda Schmeltzer and husband Paul of Hampton, VA; sisters, Gladys Porter of Redman,Oregon, Earnestine Hindman and husband Otis of Sumner, Wanza Lou of Paris and brothers; Curtis Lee Blackshear and wife Mary of Forest Hill, Joe Blackshear and wife Jeanette, of Paris, Wayne Blackshear and wife Alice of Brookston, Texas, Paul David Blackshear and wife Elwanda, of Sumner and Junior Blackshear and wife Virginia, of Tigertown, Texas; and 11 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will be at Waldo Funeral Home from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday.
Pallbearers will be James White, David White, Mark White, William Blackshear, Greg Stanfield and William Eiseman.
