Green Berry Copas was born on April 26 in the year of 1850. So Mr. Copas was 82 years and two months old when he peacefully and quietly passed away at the Mercy Hospital at Portsmouth, Ohio, on June 26, 1932.
He was united in the hold bonds of matrimony to Miss Nancy Ann Webb when he was 21 years old, who still survives him. The aged couple have lived together more than 60 years. To this union was born 16 children: Alfred Copas, Eva Francis, Mary Ellen Helterbridle, Oma Hodge, Anna Francis, Margaret Abbott, Tiffin Copas, Lillie Hayslip, Hettie Copas, Haley Gifford, Connor Copas, Myrtle Grooms, Gertie Morrison, Jaunt Copas and Harrison Copas. But Eva, Connor, Jaunt and Harrison preceded their father to the Great Beyond. Those who are left to mourn his departure is his dear old companion, one brother, 12 children, 50 grandchildren and 88 great grandchildren, besides a host of relatives and friends.
