THE TUSCALOOSA NEWS - June 15, 1961

Arnold Omar Deason, 69, retired music teacher of 902 Bridge Avenue, Northport, died Wednesday at Druid City Hospital.

A native of Tuscaloosa County, Mr. Deason had been blind since boyhood. He graduated from the Talladega School for the Blind and also from a school of music in Philadelphia.

For many years Mr. Deason taught music in this county. He could play almost every kind of stringed instrument, but was an accomplished pianist. He tuned pianos commercially for many years.

At one time, Mr. Deason conducted his own radio program here which was made up of his own piano selections.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at the Northport Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. James L. Knight. Burial will be in Bethel Presbyterian Church Cemetery with Spigener-Brown Service in charge.

He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Leonora D. Brewster of Birmingham; three brothers, Waldo H. Deason, Sr., of Tuscaloosa, Carl T. Deason of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, and Dr. V. A. Deason of Logan, West Virginia, and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be John Rushing, Gordon Darden, Clements Lamb, J. D. Quarles, Joe Rose and George Beams.
