Gertrude Rasmussen McBroom passed away July 4, 2004, at the age of 96, in Twin Falls, Idaho.
Gertrude is a native of Dubois, Idaho, where she was born on December 16, 1907, to Henry and Agnes Rasmussen, Clark County pioneers.
"Gertie," as she was known to friends and relatives, was the fifth of eight children.
Gertrude married Thomas McBroom on July 6, 1931. Gertie and Tom resided in Dubois until 1940, when they joined the war effort in Vancouver, Washington.
Both Gertie and Tom worked in the Naval shipyard.
After World War II, they moved to Eugene, Oregon, and later to Cottage Grove, Oregon, where Gertie resided until 1995 when she moved to Heritage Retirement Center in Twin Falls.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom, on August 8, 1980; and by her seven siblings.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Eudora Edwards of Idaho Falls. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews: Gloria Davis of Twin Falls; Charlene Stover of Hemet, California; Carl Doschades of Dubois, Idaho; Margaret Starkovich of Boise, Idaho; Kathie Brown of Boise, Idaho; Elaine Moss of Kuna, Idaho; and Joyce Youngstrom of Rigby, Idaho.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, July 9, at the Dubois Cemetery. Arrangements are by Buck-Miller-Hann Funeral Home in Idaho Falls.
