"The LaFayette Sun" - January 16, 1946:

Mrs. A. A. Barker, age 53 died at Lawson General Hospital, Atlanta, January 15. She was a resident of Abanda Community. Interment will be in the family cemetery.
Surviving are the husband; one daughter, Catherine, Navy Nurses Corps; two sons, Melvin, U. S. Army and Emerson, Abanda; two sisters, Mrs. M. P. Parrish, West Points, Route 6; Mrs. Tom Wood, Florida; three brothers, Ben Allen, Abanda; O. L. Allen, Camp Hill Route; Bill Allen, Camp Hill Route.
Mrs. Barker had been in ill health since last September.
