Last rites for Dud Jones, who died at the home of his son Emmett in the Red Oak community Monday afternoon, will be held in the Anderson-Clayton Bros. Funeral Home chapel Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock, with Rev. J. P. Fleming, pastor of the First Methodist church here officiating.
The interment will be at Elmo. The active pallbearers will be James Mack Squires, Raymond Pratt, Joe Pratt, Truett Pratt, B.D. Jones Jr., and Raymond Jones, all nephews.
Olden Dudley Jones was a native of Kaufman county, born February 27, 1881. He had lived his entire life in the county of his birth.
He began his life’s work as a farmer, then engaged in public works and later was in the insurance business representing some of the major companies in this area. He was well known throughout this section.
He had been a lifelong member of the Methodist church, his membership being with the Terrell church at the time of his passing.
He was twice married and the father of seven children, three of whom preceded him in death. Surviving him are his wife; two sons, Hurley D. Jones, with the U.S. army in Salina, Kansas; Emmett Jones of Red Oak; two daughters, Mrs. John L Meco of Alleyton, Texas, Miss Bettie Jones of Dallas; nine grandchildren; one brother, Ben Jones of Terrell; and other relatives among whom are Mrs. Jim Payne of Wilson, Oklahoma, and Mrs. Jack Wimberly of Roswell, New Mexico, and Mrs. J.L. Long of Tyler.
