Chris was the son of Christian Valentine Gentry (1827-1897) and Susan America Engleman Gentry (b. 1831) of Lincoln County, Kentucky, and became a constable working in Stanford. In 1880 he married Pattie/Patty/Patsy/Patsie Lee Farris of Garrard County; she was daughter of James Farris and Martha Clark. Chris and Pattie's children were Pearl D. (b 1883)(single and of parents' home when age 34), Mary Clark/Clarke (1887-1917)(buried in this cemetery with tombstone reading "Clarke"), and Samuel/Sam Farris "Farris" (1892-1933)(single and of parents' home when age 27). Chris's siblings: Harvey Helm, Mary, Susan/Sue, Nancy/Nannie/Nanny, Pattie/Patty/Patsie.
