Johannes (John) Reese was born in Wangershausen,Germany to parents Johann Peter Reese and Martha Elizabeth Garthe. Johannes arrived in Queensland, Australia onboard the ship "La Rochelle"5 August 1863 from Hamburg,Germany.Johannes became known as John.He married Marion Bell at Wesleyan Church,South Brisbane on 10 February 1871. John took the Oath of Allegiance to Australia, 15th.April 1871 at Brisbane. John worked as a Cooper, Farmer and Labourer to feed his family. In 1908 he applied for the Old Age Pension. John Reese died of Cardiac Disease and Chronic Bronchitis at Junction St.Stones Corner, Brisbane.
