Married Luvada Walker Saturday, July 17, 1937, in Laurel, MS (Jones County)

The 1910 Census has him as the two-month-old son of Aubry and Cotie Hollingsworth but misspelled Nathaniel as Thaniel. He was a father of two sons and two daughters and married to (LuVada Ann Walker 17 July 1937) until her death at age fifty. He never remarried.
During WWII, he worked in the Pascagoula, Mississippi shipyards, mostly assisting in the construction work of the wooden WWII PT boats. He did not qualify for the military because of a bad leg at the time. He spoke many times of the beautiful deep reddish-brown Mahogany wood that he cut, shaped, and installed into the boats. He became well known as an excellent structural master carpenter before retiring in his late sixties.
