Mrs. Fikes was reared and educated in Willow, Ark. She enjoyed quilting and crocheting. She had worked as a bookkeeper and receptionist for Fikes Trucking Company since 1946, retiring in 1994. She was a member of Greenlee Baptist Church, the Dorcas Sunday School Class and the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary.
Mrs. Fikes was preceded in death by her husband, Conley Newton Fikes, whom she married on Sept. 27, 1942, in Malvern, Ark.; three brothers, Lavern Ratcliff, Conway Ratcliff, Wallace Ratcliff; and a grandson, Christopher Conley Fikes.
Survivors include three sons, Conley Wayne Fikes of Little Rock, Carroll Ray Fikes of Weatherford, Texas, Gerald David Fikes of Austin, Texas; three sisters, Opal Stegman and Frankie Payne, both of Baton Rouge, La., and Melba Thompson of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla.; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
