Mary Gilmore Jordan was born in 1772 in New London Twp. Chester Co., Pennsylvania, daughter of Robert Gilmore 1740-1814 (Rev. War) and Catherine 1742-1821, maiden name unknown.

General Notes: In the Administration of the Estate of Colonel Ephraim Jordan there is mention of Catherine Gilmore, dated 3 November 1821, whereas her Estate received $2.62 from the Estate of Colonel Ephraim Jordan 1764-1820. She was the widow of Robert Gilmore, Sr. who died November 4, 1814. It also states that her daughter, Mary Gilmore Jordan was the Administratrix for Catherine Gilmore's Estate

When she was young she migrated to Jefferson Co., Va./Ky where her father, Robert Gilmore was granted by the State of Virginia 100 acres of land for his three years of service in the Rev. War in the First Virginia State Regiment.

She married Colonel Ephraim Jordan on 2 Nov. 1791 by Reverend John Whitaker in Jefferson Co., Va/Ky. Reference: Marriage Register, Clerk's Office, Jefferson County, Kentucky, Book, 1, page 14.

Her husband, Ephraim Jordan was also a Rev. War soldier serving with George Rogers Clark and his campaigns at "Post Vincennes" in Indiana, Northwest Territory. She settled in Harrison Twp., Knox Co., Indiana where she died at her son, Thomas E. Jordan's home in 1855. She was buried in the Jordan-Gilmore Cemetery.

James Calvin Jordan born Knox Co., Indiana on 25 December 1800, died 11 October 1842, buried Van der Hoof Cemetery, Wade Twp., Jasper Co., Illinois, married Malinda Scott on 3 August 1825, Knox Co., Indiana. He lost his life trying to put out a grass fire in Wade Twp. Jasper Co. Illinois. He also spelled his surname as "Jourdan"

3. John Jordan born in Knox Co., Indiana on 8 October 1803, died 1870, Knox Co., Indiana, married Jane Gamble on 14 October 1826. He is probably buried in the Lower Indiana Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Harrison Twp. Knox Co. Indiana.

4. William M. Jordan born in Knox Co., Indiana in 1805, died 7 April 1872, Knox Co., Indiana, married (1) Jane Hunter 6 November 1828 (2) Mary Ramsey 13 March 1839.

5. Malinda Jordan born in Knox Co., Indiana on 15 September 1806 and died 27 March 1890, Knox Co., Indiana, married Absolom Reel on 27 March 1824. They are buried in Lower Indiana Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Harrison Twp. Knox Co. Indiana
