Henry was a farmer and also carried freight. He was one of those stalwarts who was asked to drive an ox team back to Winter Quarters to help bring some of the pioneers to the Salt Lake Valley.
He was a fashionable dresser and always wore a bearskin coat in the winter. He loved to ride horses and was a skilled rider. He fought the Indians in the wars and skirmishes.
