Benjamin Swartz, the well-known stonemason of Nevada, died suddenly Monday evening about 8 o'clock, death being caused by heart failure. Mr. Swartz had worked all day and had eaten a hearty supper. He spoke of not feeling well and said he would not work "tomorrow". While giving some instructions to his son concerning the work, he again complained of not feeling well and said his heart troubled him. He sat down in a rocking chair, put his hand to his heart and called to his wife, saying "I am going to die, " and in a few moments was dead.
Benjamin Swartz was a man universally esteemed and respected by the entire community in which he resided. He was a soldier of the rebellion, having served with distinction in the 15th Ohio Volunteer Infantry. His age was 63 years and he leaves a widow and five children, four boys and a girl.
The funeral occurred at Nevada this Thursday afternoon, at 1 o'clock, from the Advent church. Interment in the Nevada cemetery.
