Harry O. Karsteadt, 60, of R. 2, Kiel, died about 4 p.m. Monday at St. Nicholas Hospital here.

Mr. Karsteadt, who had been residing for the past six months with his son-in-law and daughter. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Henning, on their Town Schleswig farm, was brought to the hospital shortly after noon Monday. He had a heart ailment for the past year.

Prior to that he had been employed for 16 years in the machine shop of the Manitowoc Engineering Corp., living at School Hill and Millhome.

A son of the late Herman and Bertha Berth Karsteadt, he was born in the town of Plymouth, March 30, 1898.

He married the former Frieda Rautmann of the town of Meeme, June 28, 1919. She died Jan 19, 1940.

Mr. Karsteadt had formerly operated a cheese factory near Pigeon Lake in Manitowoc County and also lived in Sheboygan for a time.

Surviving are a son, Wallace, town of Schleswig; five daughters, Mrs. John (Marian) Winter, Gwinn, Mich., Mrs. Raymond (Gloria) Henning, Schleswig, Mrs. Dean (Glendoris) Brocker, Plymouth, Mrs. Allen (Virginia Mae) Retlich, town of Meeme, Mrs. Richard (Julie Ann) Grube, Land O' Lakes, Wis., and 15 grandchildren.

Also surviving are two brothers, Melvin of Sheboygan Falls and Gaylord of the town of Mosel; and two sisters, Mrs. Lilly Pfeifer, Franklin, and Mrs. George Dreier, Howards Grove.

He was preceded in death by a son, Don Lee, in 1956, and a brother.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home in Kiel. The Rev. Vernon E. Jaberg, pastor of St. Peter Evangelical and Reformed Church, Kiel, will officiate. Burial will be in Rockville Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 p.m. Wednesday
