"David Spiker was instantly killed yesterday by coming in contact with a live telegraph wire. The unfortunate man was walking along the road near Coaltown when he saw a wire lying on the road. On endeavoring to remove it he was electrocuted. It is presumed that in falling the wire came in contact with another wire of higher voltage. As it is not thought that there was enough electricity in the telegraph wire to have killed a person.. . . The accident has cast a shadow of gloom over the whole community as Mr. Spiker was well liked and respected by all who knew him. He was 39 years old and was a member of the Amish church. The funeral will be held Wednesday from his late residence. Interment in the Amish cemetery."
His parents were Michael and Nancy McFarland Spiker.
Death certificate # 36924.
