Obituary
Thomas J. Burke was born March 25th, 1838, in the state of Indiana. He served as a soldier in Company K, 1st Illinois Volunteer Infantry. He has been a member of the United brethren Church, the most of his life, and has always tried to live an upright Christian life. He died August 9th, 1907, nearly 70 years of age. He leaves a widow and five children to mourn the loss of husband and father. Three of his children have passed on before him, two sons and one daughter. Mr. Burke had been ailing for a number of years growing worse in the past few weeks. Services were held in the Presbyterian church Saturday, conducted by Rev. Holshouser the minister of the United Brethren assisted in the service. The afflicted family has the sympathy of the community.
