Born In Pittstown, Rensselaer County New York on 27 Nov 1799. He was the son of Samuel & Mary (Benedict) Reed, husband of 1) Frances Wilkinson, married on 26 April 1821 in Jackson Co. Ohio & 2) Esther B. (Hakes) Record, m. Jan 30, 1870. Died in Medina Twp. on 22 March 1875. Children were: an infant that died, Merritt (Elizabeth McElany), Amy (Joseph Silliman), Harriet (Wilson Carson), Hiram (Margaret Bland), Eliza (James S. Preston), and Electa.(Marion Chambers).
Thomas B. Reed was a prosperous farmer and a veteran of the Black Hawk Wars.
Thomas B. Reed came to Ohio in 1819 with his father, mother and brothers where they were farmers, and land owners. Word of better farmland in Illinois was brought home by his brother Simon who had gone out to Peoria Ill. a few years earlier. With his parents, wife and children Thomas B. moved to Peoria Illinois after a long and dangerous journey in Oct 1829.
