He was born on a farm near New Holstein Jan. 10, 1869 a son of Mr. and Mrs. Jurgen Thede, and married Miss Maria Boockmeier in New Holstein, March 15, 1886. The young couple lived on a farm near New Holstein until 1908 when they moved to Chilton. In Chilton, Mr. Thede was city street commissioner for several years. Mr. and Mrs. Thede made their home with their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Gus Voigt, for the past three years and for eleven years before that with their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Thede.
The couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary Sunday March 14, 1937 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Voigt amid a gathering of many relatives and friends.
Survivors besides his wife include two daughters, Mrs. Voigt and Mrs. Rose Schneider, Chilton; a son, Ray, Chilton; three grandchildren, Ray Thede, Alice Schneider and Bobby Voigt, all of Chilton; three brothers, Henry, Olympia, Wash., George and August, New Holstein.
Funeral services were held Saturday at the Pfeffer Funeral Home and at the Ebenezer Reformed church. The Rev. E. L. Hennig officiated and burial was in the New Holstein cemetery.
